Manchester United Reject Chelsea’s Player-Swap Offer in Alejandro Garnacho Talks

Manchester United have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Chelsea youngster Tyrique George as part of negotiations for Alejandro Garnacho’s potential transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford has been in doubt for weeks, with new manager Ruben Amorim making it clear that the Argentina international is not part of his long-term plans. The winger, who once looked like a cornerstone of United’s future, has now been frozen out of the first-team squad and left training separately from his teammates.

Garnacho Prefers to Stay in England

Despite interest from major European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Garnacho is determined to continue his career in the Premier League. Chelsea has emerged as his preferred destination, and reports suggest he has already agreed personal terms with the Blues.

The problem, however, lies in the fee. United are demanding around £50 million, using Arsenal’s £50m deal for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke as a benchmark. Chelsea, on the other hand, value Garnacho closer to £30 million, leaving both sides far apart in negotiations.

Chelsea’s Player-Swap Attempts

Chelsea are still working to raise funds by selling players such as Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson. Earlier in the summer, both were even offered to Manchester United in exchange for Garnacho, but those attempts failed.

Now, in the latest twist, Chelsea put forward 19-year-old striker Tyrique George as part of the deal. However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United immediately turned down the offer. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed:

“I can 100% tell you that Chelsea expect the Alejandro Garnacho deal to happen. The player expects this deal to happen as he has turned down many opportunities. There were some talks to include Tyrique George in the deal… but I was told this option stopped a few weeks ago. He’s now being considered by Roma.”

United Playing Hardball

United are standing firm on their £50m asking price and are in no rush to sell Garnacho for less than their valuation. With Garnacho not playing a single minute in United’s pre-season or opening two Premier League games, it’s clear Amorim is planning for life without him.

Speaking about the situation, Amorim explained his stance last week:

“I know that it’s not a good thing to have players in this situation, but it’s clear they want to play in a different club. We try to arrange everything for both parts to be happy. I have to try to train with the guys that are going to be the future. Then the other guys are preparing for the next chapter. When the window is closed, it’s a different story. Anything can happen.”

Chelsea’s Ambitious Window

Chelsea have already strengthened their attacking options heavily this summer but remain determined to add both Garnacho and Paris Saint-Germain star Xavi Simons before the transfer window closes.

While Garnacho waits in limbo, Chelsea are scrambling to make room financially, with more departures expected before they can push a deal over the line.

For now, it’s a standoff: United want £50m, Chelsea want to pay £30m, and Garnacho just wants a new start. Whether both clubs can bridge that gap before deadline day remains to be seen.
