Chelsea Launch £50m Plus Player Bid to Bring Marc Guehi Back to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are planning to bring defender Marc Guehi back to the club this summer. They are ready to offer £50 million and include Trevoh Chalobah in the deal to try and convince Crystal Palace to sell.

Crystal Palace want £70 million for Guehi. But since Chalobah has done well on loan at Palace, they are open to a cash-plus-player deal. Chelsea believe Chalobah is worth about £30 million, which could help both clubs reach an agreement.

Guehi, who is 24 years old left Chelsea in 2021 and joined Palace for £18 million. He only has one year left on his contract, and Palace know they might have to let him go.

Liverpool and Newcastle have also shown interest in Guehi. Newcastle even made several offers, including one close to £65 million, but Palace said no. Liverpool also thought about signing Guehi as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk. But now that Van Dijk is staying, Chelsea are in a stronger position to get the deal done.

This move urgent as Chelsea is facing injury problems. Defender Wesley Fofana is injured again and will miss the rest of the season. He hasn’t played since the 1-0 loss to Arsenal last month. Midfielder Romeo Lavia is also injured again.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca spoke about the injuries and said:
“We will support them because they are young, and they are people going through a tough time. Wes is out for the season. Hopefully, Romeo comes back soon.”

Chelsea will play against Ipswich at home on Sunday. They are trying to stay in the top five of the Premier League to qualify for next season’s Champions League. With teams like Manchester City, Newcastle, and Aston Villa close behind, Chelsea know they can’t afford to make mistakes.
