Enzo Maresca Sends message to Chelsea Fans: “Trust the Process – We’re On the Right Path”

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has sent a clear message to fans: trust the process and believe in the direction the team is going.

The Coach spoke out after some Chelsea fans booed them during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Ipswich at Stamford Bridge. The Blues were losing for most of the match before fighting back to earn a point but fans was not happy with the performance.

Maresca admitted the atmosphere at the stadium changed when the team was losing and said that it had an impact on the players. Some fans have also been critical of his tactics especially his focus on keeping possession and playing out from the back.

When asked if he believes his style of football is good enough to entertain Chelsea fans, Maresca replied honestly:
“I can’t do a different style. This is how I coach, and I believe in it.”

He also stressed how important the fans are to the team’s success.
“With the fans behind us, we are a better team,” he said. “We know it’s our job to get the fans excited, but on Sunday, we didn’t do that, at least not for 20 or 25 minutes. That’s something we need to improve.”

Chelsea’s aim this season was to qualify for the Champions League. However after the draw with Ipswich, they have dropped to sixth in the Premier League table. A top-five finish is now needed to secure a spot in European competition.

Maresca still believes the team is on the right track.
“In the last two years, Chelsea didn’t finish in the top four at all,” he said. “But this season, we’ve been in the top four for most of the time. That shows we’re improving.”

He continued:
“Is that enough for me? No. I want to compete for trophies, win the Premier League, and play in the Champions League. But for now, fans need to trust us, trust the players, and trust what the club is building.”

Chelsea’s next game is the second leg of their UEFA Conference League quarter-final against Legia Warsaw. The Blues lead 3-0 from the first leg and are favourites to go through to the semi-finals.

“It’s not the Champions League, but it’s still a European competition,” said Maresca. “Getting to the semi-finals would be a big achievement, and it proves our style of play is working.”

He also pointed out the team’s stats before the Ipswich match:
“We were the third-best defence and one of the top five attacks in the league. Sunday was disappointing, but we’ll keep pushing to reach the Champions League spots.”
