"Gabriel Jesus Has to Go" – Arsenal Urged to Sell Striker for Summer Rebuild
Former footballer Darren Bent has advised Arsenal to sell Gabriel Jesus in the upcoming summer transfer window to raise funds for a new attacking option. Jesus, who has struggled with injuries, will miss the rest of the season due to a knee problem he suffered in January. His time in North London has been affected by frequent setbacks, and his goal-scoring record has not lived up to expectations.

Since joining Arsenal from Manchester City for £45 million in 2022, Jesus has scored only 26 goals in 96 appearances. His current season has been underwhelming, with just seven goals and two assists in 27 games. With two years remaining on his contract, speculation is growing about his future at the club.

Bent believes that Arsenal need to part ways with the Brazilian forward to make room for a top-class striker. He emphasized the need for the Gunners to strengthen their squad, particularly in attack, following injuries to both Jesus and Kai Havertz.

Arsenal has already been linked with several high-profile strikers, including Alexander Isak from Newcastle, Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, and Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. Manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the club will be active in the transfer market as they aim to compete at the highest level next season.

Bent, speaking on talkSPORT, explained why he believes Jesus should be sold:

“Gabriel Jesus has to go. He should be the first one out. When you look at the left side, Arsenal has [Leandro] Trossard and [Gabriel] Martinelli. You keep Trossard as an option off the bench, but he’s not a regular starter. The real problem is at centre-forward. Right now, Arsenal has Havertz and Jesus, but Jesus can be sold. On the right side, there’s [Bukayo] Saka and [Ethan] Nwaneri.”

Arteta has often defended Jesus despite his lack of goals, with the forward scoring just three times in 17 Premier League games this season. However, the Arsenal manager understands the need for improvement if the club wants to close the 12-point gap to Liverpool next season.

Speaking about Arsenal’s summer transfer plans, Arteta stated:

“It’s going to be a big one, and we are very excited about it. We want to increase the depth of the squad, the quality, and the skills that will help us take the next step. Every summer is important because it’s an opportunity to improve. We need to build on our strong foundation and find ways to evolve the team.”

With Arsenal looking to compete for major trophies next season, securing a top-quality striker will be a priority. Selling Gabriel Jesus could be the key to making that happen.
