Galatasaray Launch Shock €3m Bid to Sign Man City Star Ederson in Bold Summer Move
Manchester City may be on the verge of losing one of their most reliable stars, as Turkish champions Galatasaray have made a surprise €3 million (£2.6m) offer to sign goalkeeper Ederson this summer.

According to reports from L’Equipe, Galatasaray are serious about bringing in the 31-year-old Brazilian as they look to build a team capable of competing on the European stage again. Ederson is being lined up as the long-term replacement for legendary goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, who is approaching the twilight of his career.

A Bold First Step – But Far Below Value

While Galatasaray’s interest is very real, the offer they’ve put on the table has raised eyebrows. The €3 million bid is seen as far below Ederson’s true market value, especially considering his vast experience, trophy haul, and influence in Manchester City’s success under Pep Guardiola.

City are yet to respond to the offer, but many around the club believe the initial bid is not serious enough to even consider. Ederson joined the club in 2017 from Benfica in a deal worth £35m and has since gone on to become one of the top goalkeepers in the world.

A Glittering Career at the Etihad

Ederson has been more than just a goalkeeper for City — he’s been a leader, a playmaker from the back, and a calm presence in goal during their most dominant period. In seven seasons, he has made 372 appearances and kept 168 clean sheets. During this time, he’s helped the team win:

  • 6 Premier League titles
  • 2 FA Cups
  • 4 EFL Cups
  • 1 UEFA Champions League
  • 1 FIFA Club World Cup

His footwork, distribution and commanding presence have made him a perfect fit for Guardiola’s football philosophy.

But now, change might be on the horizon.

Saudi Rivals Watching Closely

While Galatasaray have made the first move, they are not the only ones circling. Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad are also strongly interested in Ederson and are reportedly ready to offer huge financial packages to bring him to the Middle East.

What could work in Galatasaray’s favour, however, is Ederson’s reported enthusiasm for their sporting project and their likely participation in next season’s UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian is believed to be attracted to the idea of staying in Europe and remaining in a competitive environment.

Ederson’s potential departure has already set Manchester City into planning mode. Pep Guardiola is said to be keeping an eye on several options to fill the big shoes the Brazilian would leave behind.

Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen is one name on the list, although his current injury situation could keep him in Spain for now. Meanwhile, Diogo Costa of Porto and PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma are also reportedly being monitored as possible replacements.

Losing Ederson would mark the end of an era for City. He’s not just been part of the team — he’s been a key part of the club’s identity in their most successful years.
