“I Just Need....” – Viktor Gyokeres Sends Clear Message to Martin Odegaard After £63.7m Arsenal Move

New Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has already made his first request as a Gunner — and it’s a simple one: assists, please.

Without hesitation, Gyokeres interrupted with a smile: “Some assists, please, would be nice.”

The new No.14 was clearly eager to build chemistry with his fellow countryman and playmaker-in-chief. After finishing the letter, which wished him success for the season ahead, Gyokeres added with a grin, “Very nice. The only thing I need is some assists.”

The two finally met in person on Sunday in Singapore, where Gyokeres watched his new teammates beat Newcastle 3-2. Odegaard scored the match-winner in the 84th minute from the penalty spot — a promising sign that he’s ready to deliver those assists soon.

Gyokeres could make his unofficial debut on Thursday when Arsenal face fierce rivals Tottenham in a pre-season friendly in Hong Kong. However, Arteta admitted the striker’s fitness might delay things.
