Journalist Reveals Manchester United’s Response to Garnacho’s Controversial Instagram Post
Man United break silence with surprising response after Garnacho sparks outrage by wearing Aston Villa shirt featuring Rashford’s name.
Manchester United have reportedly decided to stay silent following Alejandro Garnacho’s controversial social media post that sparked strong reactions from fans.
The young winger, who is currently on holiday, posted a series of photos on Instagram, including one where he wore an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name and number on the back. This didn’t go down well with many Manchester United supporters, especially given Garnacho’s uncertain future at the club.
To make matters more intense, Rashford himself commented on the post with the words “My brother” and a love-heart emoji — further fuelling speculation about both players’ situations.
Since Ruben Amorim took charge at Old Trafford, Garnacho has fallen out of favour. The new manager has already loaned out Rashford and Antony, and brought back Jadon Sancho — only to place all three, plus Garnacho, on the transfer list.
Tensions between Garnacho and Amorim reportedly escalated during the Europa League final, when the manager told the winger: “You better pray that you can find a club to sign you.”
According to well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are not planning to publicly respond to the Instagram controversy. Writing in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano said: “No reaction, to be fair. Just a normal picture, that’s it.” This suggests the club is taking a calm approach and avoiding further drama, especially as they aim to offload several players this summer.
Despite the noise off the pitch, Garnacho did have a decent season statistically, recording 21 goal contributions in 58 appearances. Only Amad and Bruno Fernandes had more in the Premier League squad.
However, United’s focus now is clearly on building a new-look attack. The signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves is already complete, and the Red Devils are also targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo along with a new striker.
As for Garnacho and Rashford, their futures remain uncertain — but it’s looking more likely that both will be wearing different shirts by the time next season begins.
