Red Devils reject £25m striker offer despite scoring struggles – now AC Milan look set to sign Juventus frontman

Manchester United have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Dusan Vlahovic this summer, even as they struggle to fix their goal-scoring problems from last season. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus offered the Serbian striker to United for around £25 million, but the club decided not to pursue the deal. That has now opened the door for AC Milan to make a move.

United finished a shocking 15th in the Premier League last season, with a lack of firepower one of their biggest issues. Bruno Fernandes was their top scorer with 19 goals in all competitions, while youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo followed with 11 each. Rasmus Højlund hit double digits too, but beyond that, the Red Devils struggled to find the back of the net.

Despite already signing Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million, United are still searching for a central striker. They’ve also made contact with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, although Tottenham are trying to hijack that move.

Vlahovic, once labelled one of Serie A’s most exciting young strikers, had been offered as an option. But Gazzetta dello Sport confirms United had no interest in entering talks. A major sticking point appears to be the player’s wages, which are reported to be more than £10 million per season pre-tax – equal to roughly £350,000 per week in the Premier League.

While United passed on the Serbian international, his former manager Massimiliano Allegri – now in charge at AC Milan – is keen to reunite with him at San Siro.

So far, United’s striker search hasn’t been smooth. Their top target earlier in the window, Liam Delap, ended up joining Chelsea. Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP was also on their radar, but he seems more interested in a move to Arsenal.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has been ruled out due to high wage demands, and although United have made enquiries about Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, they haven’t moved forward with any deal.

At the moment, United appear content to wait before making a big striker signing. They seem focused on securing a deal for Mbeumo and may return to the striker market later in the summer when more options are available or prices drop.

While fans are eager to see a reliable No.9 arrive, the club is treading carefully – likely to avoid another high-profile signing that doesn’t work out. But with the new season approaching fast, time is ticking for Manchester United to find the right man to lead their attack.
